Two Thumbs Up

We joined Net Flix recently. I was going nutso having missed a million seemingly good (and not so good movies) the past two years. And what with the dispoable income needing some disposing of, why not this way? I LOVE IT. I cannot believe we ever lived with out it. I know about half the free world uses this and have for like five millions years (because if you have an iPod and not the iPhone - well what a losa... yeah because we have neither...)

Picking movies out was like going back in time two years - All the movies I dreamed of seeing while I sat and nursed and nursed and nursed... We have probably watched more movies during the month of July then we have in three years!!! All for the monthly price of $16.99. Kevin thinks it is crazy and costs too much (ha like he wouldn't... yet he STILL watches all of the movies so whatever Mr. Cheapie Pants!) but I beg to differ. I do not have to DRIVE - because OMG how 20 years ago - scoff, driving and all... to drop a movie off that is like three days late and then forget I was three days late on that movie and only bringing the right amount for the next rental and endlessly being hounded for the $4.00 in late fees and then just going to another rental store with a different name so I can escape the disapproving look from the rental dude who is young enough to be, well, my way younger brother (but we have the same kind of acne so no one would know he was my much younger brother... I TOTALLY digress...) I can watch it, stick it back in the envelope, trot down to the end of my driveway and pop the movie into the mail box. Then check my queue to see what will come next in like 24 FREAKIN' hours! WHY IN GOD'S GREEN EARTH DID I NOT INVENT THIS LOVELINESS?!?!?

Ah... laziness is pure and utter bliss, I tell you. Why on earth did I ever want to be type A?! WHY? Why am I telling you what you probably already know? Well, I received Finding Neverland the other day. It dawned on me as I took it out of the mailbox that I have seen it. This is the 2nd time I have done this recently... I said "oh I really want to see that movie" about I Heart Huckabees and then started watching it and was like "oh shit I have seen it!" Wow, so yeah - well I never did say I was the brightest bulb on the tree!

I decided to watch Finding Neverland just because it came and I HEART Mr. Depp. I am so glad I did. It is a charming movie. And it has brought tears to my eyes like 50 times. Something about the way mother protects her boys against her illness just tugs on my heart strings. I love that. I love that the little boys are so equally committed to their mother and, well, there's Johnny. He is so pretty it makes me cry too - tee hee! Whether you have seen it or not, you should watch this one AGAIN. It is a lovely film.

"Young boys should never be sent to bed... they always wake up a day older." - God, that makes me tear up and it is true and sad and true...

"When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about. And that was the beginning of fairies." Peter Pan By JM Barrie

I miss NetFlix. We had it for a few years, came out of my paycheck cause I really wanted it & I LOVED it. We would rent all these movies one of us hadn't seen or rewatch older movies together for the first time. How cute & sappy of us, no? We were young & unmarried & unFellowed! Then we would hit up the Nominated lists & just grab anything we wanted :) So what if we saw them 2 years after they came out? The last movie we saw in the theatre was either Shrek 2 or Chicago...we are not movie goers. We canceled it when I left work on mat leave & right then we canceled cable too (GASP!) but we download anything & everything we want to watch so although I don't have the flix anymore I still think about a time again when we can have it :) ENJOY!! And don't forget you can rent concert dvds and tv series too!

Oh, good to know about concert DVDs!

Kevin put a bunch of comedian's shows on there. He is pretty excited about that!

Yeah, I love it. I cannot believe we have not done it till now! Most likely because we had little money to spend on the extra things like that.

We were pretty big movies goers before Matthew was born - I would say we saw 1-3 movies a month at the theatre but that stopped the moment I gave birth. I cannot say I miss it much because I like getting all comfy at home and I can start and stop movies as I like.

Thanks for the tips!
