Christmas in September?!

Is it oh so wrong that I am obsessed with Christmas shopping and we have not even entered the month of October? This means we have not had Canadian Thanksgiving, Halloween or American Thanksgiving (oh I eat well at the end of the year...) yet and I am spending my limited brain power on Christmas. PATH-etic. I am trying to be organized and not get that shaky out of control feeling I start to get with money around December 15. On the other hand, I keep hoping the Christmas decorations will go up sooner in the stores so I can get in the mood... Ah, nothing like a little rampant consumerism going on over here in my world...

I swear I have not voiced this Christmas obsession to my son but every time he sees Halloween decorations, he says "Look Mommy, Christmas decorations!" He even yelled at us on our walk yesterday when we told him that they were not Christmas decorations but Fall decorations... Oh boy. Do you think he can sense my urgency!?

At least he has not asked to be something like a Christmas tree or a wrapped present for Halloween. We are fairly solid on that front - Matthew says he wants to be Bob the Builder so Bob he will be. Sign, more blatant consumerism. HALPPPPPP.

Where is this post going? Noooo where.

Hmm, well it is Friday so I guess that is okay. Does it leave you with more questions that answers? I suppose...

(Let's change the topic. QUICK.) We have BIG plans for the weekend. Okay, not really. Matthew and I will be hitting the library to see Matthew's old buddy, Kid Kazooey, for a musical performance (See you there Kelly!) We also need new books/CDs - Matthew's bored with the old one (and I owe a fine, of course...) Kevin & I will be working on painting our deck. Scary prospect but hopefully it will be all work out. I am hoping to get out and play a bit outdoors. After the week in Canada, I wanted to soak up all of the warmth and summer available before the cold sets in. It was cruel reminder that while I love fall/winter - sitting indoors with the cold sucks my hinny (which is really a cross between a mule and a horse but I mean my butt in this case... ) That is about it for now. I desperately need to catch up on e-mail (Annie & Nitya that means you... Sorry ladies!)

What are you all doing this weekend???

I'll be the first to tell you that you are SO not alone in the whole Christmas thing. Oh, and your son has been running around my house all week saying, "Ho Ho Ho. I'm Santa Claus!" ;)

Kelly - Santa Claus, huh? He totally was mad last night when Kevin said no Matthew those are Halloween decorations. We both had to fight the urge to laugh at the poor kiddo! He was SO passionate about it!

Jennifer - you are such a busy girl!!! I love it! Have you started the new job yet? Ohhh, pants. I have a love/hate relationship with pants. I love them, they hate me!

I too, love love love Christmas. Although, I do prefer not to start thinking about it until after Halloween! I love Christmas shopping, the hustle and bustle, all the lights, fattening treats, and the "idea" of the perfect family Christmas celebration...which NEVER happens. I have to make myself wait to buy some presents until the end of December just so I have an excuse to get out into that last minute chaos! :)
