Sugar Fix

I am in dire need of a recipe for Brownies. I used to know how to make these. I used to make them with the Baker's blocks from scratch when I was like 10 and they were awesome but some how being an adult has stolen my ability to create a proper Brownie. The last few times I have tried without success has rendered me fearful of THE Brownie.

Seriously I fancy myself a pretty good baker when I put my mind to (which is not often...) and cook. I am not fearful of the kitchen and I am definitely not fearful of screwing up a recipe BUT COME ONE I am craving BROWNIES like mad. Not store bought kind and not from a box - a real live recipe (maybe even a recipe for Chocolate Chip Brownies??!! Mmmm, I am just drooling imagining their goodness....) I may have to resort to Chocolate Chip cookie bars if I cannot find a recipe (or figure out what the hell I am doing wrong with the recipe on the back of the baker's blocks box.)

Grrr... I WANT BROWNIES. Oh did I mention I want them with Vanilla Bean Bryer's Ice Cream on top right after these imaginary Brownies came out of the oven???

SO if you or any person you know (other bloggers) have good and sort of somewhat simple recipes for Brownies please the pregnant woman is begging send them my way (my eyes are all dart-y right now in hopes that I get something, anything from this blog. PLEASE!)

Thank you.

Swistle has eleventy billion brownie recipes on her blog. From scratch and everything. I would go there QUICKLY and find a recipe to make. And then mail ME some brownies!

I like this recipe, mostly because it makes a 9x13 pan of brownies. I also put chocolate icing on top while they're still warm (makes the icing glossy and really good). Anyway, here's the recipe:

3/4 cups melted butter
1-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
(you can put nuts in too, if that's your thing - I don't)

Mix wet ingredients. Mix dry ingredients and add to wet. Put in greased 9x13 pan. Bake for about 20 minutes at 400*.

I'm thinking I'll have to make a pan of these tonight!

Seriously...I LOVE a good brownie and the Betty Crocker Chocolate Chuck are awesome! Little bits of warm gooey chocolate are to die for! You could always give them a try while you search for the perfect brownie recipie!

LOL! I was planning on having the exact same thing tonight! Only I'm not even attempting the "home-made" thing and am opting for the Ghiardelli box stuff instead. So good! ;)

I'll second the Swistle recommendation, and also say that I think those half cookie/half brownie deals are AWESOME.

Thanks Lori. Can I ask a lame question? Is that cocoa powder sweetened or unsweetened?

UGH and no nuts for me either. Just chocolate and more chocolate... mmmmmmmmm!

unsweetened cocoa

and, feel free to add MORE chocolate chips to make up for the lack of nuts!
