Baby Pancake Revealed (sort of)!

Okay despite what some of you know I wanted before I ever became pregnant (a girl) I actually never really told anyone that I simply got over that. I actually thought a lot about girl babies vs. boy babies and I kept thinking 'well I know what to expect from a boy and we have all the clothes...' which in retrospect seems kind of lame but whatever. Basically at the end of the day, I thought it would be just fine with me if it was a boy or a girl - I had no more strong feelings either way.

Well, and there is that 50/50 chance thing - I mean one way or another I was going to have a baby of some kind whether it be boy or girl, right???
We had our ultrasound appointment this morning at 8:30a which I did not think was going to happen since all three of us are pretty sick but we dragged ourselves there like I was going to miss or reschedule this appt! The appointment went well. The baby looks great and we are sticking to the baby will be coming some time during the early part of August as a due "time" for the baby.

Matthew was a little cranky as he was up coughing all night and did not sleep well. We went to the pediatrician's office right after the ultrasound and the nurse practitioner said he has Croup. Poor little guy. So that will need to run its course but in the mean time we are just trying to stay as comfortable as possible. I guess I am the least sick of the sicko's so I am playing nursemaid which has included quiet time in front of the TV and baking peanut butter cookies. Oh and NO work so I am not exactly complaining here ;)

Any who, on to the big ANNOUNCEMENT portion of this e-mail, Matthew is going to be a big brother to a wee baby GIRL! We are very very excited, we feel blessed to know the baby is healthy & growing you know the way a baby ought to and did not appear to be sucking her thumb the whole time like her little brother did during his ultrasound (though she did have the hiccups just like Matthew - I just watched his ultrasound last night so this I know for sure!) Baby Pancake actually never revealed her face to us so we have a very blurry slight side view of her but most of the ultrasound pics were terrible SO... no pics for YOU.
It sort of feels a little like cheating knowing the sex of the baby (we did not find out with Matthew) but it is also such a huge relief to decide how to move forward with everything from decorating the room to figuring out what to name Princess Pancake (the ultrasonographer came up with that one!)

Matthew's reaction: " I want a baby brothhhhhhher." He did not cry - he just looked perplexed and seemed to think the nice lady with the sticky wand was whacked. I also think he feels terrible from the whole Croup thing. Either way, we have five months for him to get used to the idea that he gets to be the protective big brother to a little sister. And as Liz (the midwife) told Matthew: Look at this way you may not need to share your toys as much with a little sister (HA)!

Ah and here is a cutie photo of the proud big brother just for fun:

Ha that is what we told him. He still seemed unimpressed. He also still insists its a boy even hours later and seemed really disappointed when I told him once again that it is indeed a girl.

Congratulations!!! Yay for girl clothes! Almost all of our friends and family have had boys, and I'm dying for someone to have a girl so I can buy a cute little dress.

That pic of Matthew is so cute - the folded hands just kill me.

Hey, I read your comment on Andreanna's blog. Input you may or may not want, I love boy names for girls. I named my baby girl Ryan Michelle. Just thought I would throw that idea out there since you were looking for name suggestions. Good luck! It's so hard.
